Marriage is a huge step in your relationship and it makes sense that you want to get off on the right foot. Attending premarital counseling helps you create a marriage that lasts and fulfills both of you. Whether this is your first marriage or you have scars from past broken relationships, you can learn how to stay connected for the long haul.
Le is an approved provider for Twogether in Texas. After the premarital program, you will receive a certificate that allows you to skip the three day waiting period for your marriage license and have the state licensing fee waived.
Premarital counseling is different than typical couples counseling because, while we do work through challenges in the relationship, the focus is more on building a strong foundation than on “fixing you.” You’ll learn skills for communicating with each other, practice having conversations that will help you stay connected for the long term and work through potential rough spots.
Your first step is a free consultation with Le. She’ll ask a few questions about you, your relationship, and your goals. That lets us make sure we’re a good fit and allows us to tailor a program for you. Le is trained in two different types of premarital counseling: Prepare-Enrich and Love Sense. We’ll discuss the differences and use the one that makes more sense for you.
After the consultation, we will meet six times. Outside of sessions, you will each complete some online assessments and you will practice some of the skills we talk about during counseling. Typically, we will schedule a recurring appointment and meet weekly. If your wedding is closer than six weeks, we can make arrangements to complete the course quicker depending on availability.
The total cost for the premarital program is $500. That includes assessments, six counseling sessions and your Twogether in Texas certificate. Couples are allowed to reschedule once without penalty. Additional sessions are billed at the regular counseling session price of $120 / session.
