Is your trauma trying to take over your life?

You worked so hard to survive the worst that life could throw at you but now it seems like the weight of your experiences will drag you down forever. You constantly look over your shoulder, expect everyone to betray you, or brace yourself for the inevitable moment when all hell breaks loose again. You might find yourself on edge when everyone else seems calm and you beat yourself up for it but you still can’t relax.

You try to keep yourself shut down so you won’t just fall apart. You blame yourself. You bounce between feeling afraid or angry or numb.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

●     You’re struggling to connect in your relationships.

●     You have flashbacks or nightmares.

●     Sometimes your whole body reacts like you’re in danger even though there isn’t a current threat.

●     You can’t trust anyone, especially yourself.

Trauma therapy can help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can breathe easy again. You can take back control. You can find peace and healing. We can help you get there.

Trauma therapy can help you:

●     Understand why your brain and body are still reacting like they are.

●     Cope with what happened.

●     Heal the wounds from betrayals.

●     Teach your body how to know when you’re safe.

We’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. Our approach to trauma therapy comes from a place of compassion and understanding your biological responses to trauma. We believe that be focusing on your body, emotions and relationships, you can finally find healing.

The trauma doesn’t have to define you. You can breathe easy again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are trauma therapy sessions like?

A: We’ll tailor therapy to your specific needs. Sessions typically last 45 minutes and we meet weekly in the beginning. We usually start by taking time to let you tell your story and explore how it is impacting you.

We’ll use proven treatments like EMDR, cognitive processing therapy, emotionally focused therapy and other trauma informed treatments to help you cope with what has happened.

Q: What is trauma?

A: Trauma happens when our brains go into survival mode and witness or experience something there that changes the way you view yourself or the world. Trauma can happen in the military, at home, at work, or anywhere else. It can occur during acts of violence or in parenting when you receive life altering diagnosis or have to protect your family during a child’s meltdown.

Q: What’s different about trauma therapy?

A: Trauma impacts every part of you so trauma therapy focuses on the whole person. We’ll use treatments that address what is happening in your brain, your body and your soul. We’ll work together to help you process what happened and get your peace back again.

Q: How do we get started?

A: Our first step is a free consultation. You won’t have to tell us your whole story here.  We’ll ask some basic questions about what you’re dealing with and what your goals for therapy are. You’ll have a chance to ask any questions and make sure we’re a good fit. If we’re not, we’ll provide some referrals to help you find the right therapist for you. We understand that sharing your trauma is scary and we want to make sure you’re with the therapist who can help you on this journey.
