I am a therapist for couples and parents of kids with special needs. I help adults get unstuck and walk through pain so they can reconnect and find peace.
Hi. I’m Le Shepard. It’s spelled oddly but pronounced like Leigh. I’m a mom by birth and adoption to kids with superpowers and special needs. I’m also an experienced counselor who specializes in working with adults and couples on difficult parenting journeys. I earned my master’s degree in counseling psychology from Texas Woman’s University in 2015. I’ve worked with clients in inpatient settings and in non-profit counseling centers. I’ve served clients as individuals, couples and groups. I’m especially passionate about couples therapy and am about to complete certification in emotionally focused couples therapy. Since becoming licensed, I’ve sought out additional trauma training, including EMDR, and I am a part of the trauma certificate program with Trauma Support Services of North Texas.
My husband and I have been married for 16 years and have three children. We love living in the country with our dogs. When I’m not working, we love to adventure in our 5th wheel. Our goal is to visit all of the national parks and we’re about a third of the way to that. I love hiking, horses and corny jokes. I’m also an avid reader and run a popular book review site for therapists.
I’ve had numerous articles published and have been recognized for my advocacy efforts with the PCDH19 Alliance on behalf of my daughter, Alyssa. I love speaking to large and small groups about relationships, coping with diagnoses, and parenting.
I know choosing a therapist is an important decision. I always do a free consultation before scheduling an appointment because I want to make sure that we’re a great fit. (If I’m not, I’ll help you find someone who is.) If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email or you can request a consultation here.
